Thai Yoga Therapy

Sometimes referred to as lazy yoga, Thai Yoga Therapy is form of bodywork much like a massage.
Your body is guided through a series of positions closely related to traditional Hatha yoga asana, providing all the benefits of a body awareness practice while simultaneously opening the body to be relaxed and centered by the practitioner.

It's like doing yoga without any of the work!
Thai Yoga Therapy is a comprehensive practice, much more than a few simple body manipulations. It’s performed in the spirit of loving kindness (metta) to achieve therapeutic results on multiple layers of our being, from the physical relief of pain and tension to deeper emotional release and reconnection. It is highly adaptable to suit your needs, preferences and tolerances for pressure, stretch intensity and relaxation. From the practitioner perspective as well, it is an art that is mutually beneficial.

What to Expect

Thai Yoga Therapy, sometimes called Thai Massage or Thai Yoga Massage, is an intuitive and adaptive healing therapy performed while comfortablly clothed on a padded mat on the floor without the use of oils.

Muscle compression, joint mobilization, and acupressure are also incorporated into the treatment creating an experience which is both relaxing and energizing.

Some of the benefits of Thai Yoga Therapy:
  • relaxes the body
  • relaxes the mind
  • reduces stress
  • improves circulation
  • increases energy and vitality
  • increases flexibility
  • improves range of motion
  • centers the mind and body
An ancient practice with its roots in Yoga, Ayurvedic medicine and Buddhist spiritual practice, this unique and complete system combines rhythmic massage, acupressure, yoga asana, gentle twisting, deep stretching and meditation. It releases tension, increases vitality and creates wholeness of mind, body and spirit in both giver and receiver.

Similar to the Yogic understanding of the energetic body through which vital life force (Prana) flows, Thai traditions follow the Sen lines, of which there are 10 primary channels running through the body . Their origins are also tied to Chinese acupuncture/ acupressure and Shiatsu in Japanese culture. Thai Yoga Therapy works along these Sen lines to treat disease or to relieve pain by restoring balance to a naturally harmonious system.
